Tennis Lessons

We started tennis lessons yesterday with Markus and he RAVED about how great a class this is!  They all listened, behaved and participated so well.  Super proud of them...as always.

Elementary Summer School has been cancelled by the district.

An Elementary Summer School Cancellation Notice has been issued by the District.  This program is often, but not exclusively, utilized by children who need extra practice before moving on to the next grade.  Please read as it highlights the shortfalls in funding that districts are experiencing and will likely continue to experience.

Thanks for staying informed!

  • Scientific language for private body parts (3) and reproductive body parts, both male and female
  • How babies are made including use of the term "sex"
  • What to do and who to tell if someone touches your private parts
  • What condoms and needles look like and what to do if you find one

Community Unit of Inquiry

We are wrapping up our Community Unit of Inquiry and decided to design a community made of clay. Children had to decide what should be in the community and they covered safety, play, comfort and beauty all on their own!  Quite impressive.  There is a duck pond, police and fire station, gardens, trees, a playground, climbing wall at Capilano's Fun Day, and of course, people!

Sorry for not posting much lately!  We got some new things that support inquiry, and collaboration for the classroom today.  As you can imagine, the children were super excited...so play we did!

Sowden Park

On Thursday of this week, the 3 Kindergarten classes will be closing off our community unit of inquiry with a walk to Sowden Park.  On our way, we would like to stop by the Corner Stone to pick up a treat.  Please send $1 to school with your child so that we can pool funds together for easy payment.

Thanks!

Escalating job action

Please watch the news tonight and/or visit bctf.ca for updates to strike action.  Teachers in North Vancouver will be walking out next week on Thursday, May 29th for ONE DAY ONLY...school will definitely be in session on Friday, May 30.  Please make alternate arrangements for your children on that day.

How can you show your support for teachers and children?  Write your MLA and/or join teachers on the picket lines.

Let's hope for progress in the next 6 days!!
