We are wrapping up our Community Unit of Inquiry and decided to design a community made of clay. Children had to decide what should be in the community and they covered safety, play, comfort and beauty all on their own! Quite impressive. There is a duck pond, police and fire station, gardens, trees, a playground, climbing wall at Capilano's Fun Day, and of course, people!

Sowden Park
On Thursday of this week, the 3 Kindergarten classes will be closing off our community unit of inquiry with a walk to Sowden Park. On our way, we would like to stop by the Corner Stone to pick up a treat. Please send $1 to school with your child so that we can pool funds together for easy payment.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Escalating job action
Please watch the news tonight and/or visit bctf.ca for updates to strike action. Teachers in North Vancouver will be walking out next week on Thursday, May 29th for ONE DAY ONLY...school will definitely be in session on Friday, May 30. Please make alternate arrangements for your children on that day.
How can you show your support for teachers and children? Write your MLA and/or join teachers on the picket lines.
Let's hope for progress in the next 6 days!!

Grade 1
Just an FYI...
Monday from 11:00-12:00 Kindergarten children will be visiting Grade 1 classrooms while Kindergarten teachers host an orientation for next year's K's.
Please note, class placements for next year have not even begun yet and placements in the Grade 1 rooms on Monday are completely random. In fact, I think they may be rotating through all Grade 1 rooms.

Fun Day
There is a notice coming home about Fun Day today.
Kindergarten teachers would LOVE to have some parent volunteers that day who are willing to attend for the duration of the event and supervise a small group of Kindergarten children.
Your time commitment would be from 9:00 until 11:30. At that time, all classes reassemble on the field and I can resume supervision at that point. Dismissal is at 2:00. More information about the day can be found on the notice coming home today.
If you are going to leave early with your child on that day, please let me know ahead of time. This is quite common as Fun Day is attached to a long weekend.
Please email me if you can join.
