Firefighter visit

The firefighters visited today after attending an emergency!  You may wish to review the following information with them and talk about a fire safety plan specific to your home.

We learned that:

  • If your clothes catch on fire, you should STOP, DROP (cover your face), and ROLL
  • If there is a fire in your house, stay low, crawl to the door, check for heat
    • If there is no heat, crawl out to the front door and proceed to your family meeting spot
  • If there is heat at the door, close the door, put a towel under it and go to the window
  • If there is a way down, go out and down and proceed to the meeting place
  • If there is not a way down, open the window and yell for help
  • Do not ever go back in the house
  • A Firefighter looks different in all his gear - his gear weighs 60 pounds!
We also go to see the firetruck up close and even got inside.  Firetrucks carry hoses, axes, and tools like the jaws of life.

Pictures to follow.
