Culture Day

Capilano is celebrating culture this week.

On Thursday the 20th, we are having a potlatch in class.  We are asking for each family to send their child to school with a food item representing their culture.  Please consider the following when deciding what food item to send.  There will be upwards of 20 different items so there is no need to send enough for 20 meals...just 20 samples.  The past few years, my students ended up grazing and eating all throughout the day so you may wish to take a day off from packing lunches or just pack a half lunch...unless of course, you know that yours is a picky eater.

Also, don't be shy about what you send...you might be surprised by what they are willing to try in this environment.  Spicy doesn't go well, but in years past, I have found my classes to be very adventurous.

Please also send a short note about your food item telling us about its cultural roots, and anything that might be relevant ingredient wise, spiciness, etc.

Thanks in advance for participating!
